‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ Game Announced as the follow up to ‘Pokémon Go’

After speculation, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has been officially announced as the next augmented reality (AR) game to be released by Niantic Labs. After Niantic Labs previous AR game, Pokémon Go took the World by storm, it was only a matter of time before the company released a second game.

Although little information has been released about the game, we do know that the game is set to be sometime in 2018. Like Pokémon Go, Harry Potter Wizards Unite will combine digital elements with real-world interactions and locations. Set within the Harry Potter Universe, the game will likely follow the Harry Potter storyline, requiring players to learn spells and fight off beasts to progress.

Harry Potter is a no small undertaking, initially starting from author J.K Rowling’s novel series, the Harry Potter brand has grown into one of the most famous, successful and profitable novel and film franchises in the World. The power of the Harry Potter brand presents a massive opportunity, but also massive pressure for Niantic Labs. Teaming up with Warner Bros this time around, it is clear that the company will be able to better prepare for the demand and expectations of the game.

Although details are still scarce, one thing that is certain is that this game is going to be huge! Yes, this likely means that crowds of players will be back roaming back your neighborhood, phone in hand trying to progress in the game.
